| GOIANIA, Brazil – A company of firefighters captured a 20-foot-long and pregnant anaconda Monday morning after being called to a factory in rural Goias. Workers at the factory in the town of Palmeiras, 84 km (52 miles) from the capital, were able to corner the serpent in a bathroom until firefighters arrived.
According to biologist and professor at the State University of Goias, Luiz Gonzaga, who assisted with the capture, the animal is pregnant, which contributed to its large size. The snake was taken to the firehouse where it was watered down to stabilize its body temperature. Immediately afterward, the mom-to-be was taken to the Rio dos Bois and released into the wild.
