On Friday, field workers found three bodies in a sugarcane field on the side of highway CP-044, located near the city of Taquara Pitimbu on the south coast of Paraiba. Police identified the victims, a man and two women, as Pasi Kalervo Kaartinen, 71, his wife, Marjatta Riitta Kaartinen, 68, and Sirpa Helena Tiihonen, 60, a friend of the couple.

Last night's search was the second held at the home. The first inspection was done Friday night. At the time, no traces of blood were found on the outside of the house. According to detective Rodolfo Santa Cruz, the investigation of the case is well along. “Tips are coming in to the GOE and they are being checked out,” he told G1 Paraiba.

The detective also reported to G1 that seven people have been questioned. Among them is a mechanic who said he bought the house in Conde for R$290,000 reals (about $160,000 USD) in cash. However, police found that the property is in the name of Pasi Kaartinen.

Relatives of the Finns told investigators that they traveled to Brazil to pick up money. The mechanic says that he bought the house from a real estate agent acting on behalf of Pasi.

According to the investigator, Rodolfo Santa Cruz, late Tuesday or early Wednesday, the Special Operations Group of the Civil Police will make public more information about the case.
