| GOIANIA, Brazil - “I love Goiania, as a whole,” says Aprigio Moreira, a taxi driver who moved to the city when he was 13 years old. He says that the city's residents are very welcoming and easy to connect with. Moreira spoke with Versanna Carvalho of the G1 network, today, the 78th anniversary of the founding of the city.
Monitoring the city's development from the traffic lanes has been routine work of Aprigio Jose Moreira Neto, 53, a Mineiro from Belo Horizonte. He moved with his parents to Goiania when he was 13 in 1970. Since then, he has worked as a pastry salesman, a shoe salesman, a bus driver, construction and, for the last 23 years, as a taxi driver.
“I love Goiania as a whole and there is only one reason for this. Perhaps the fact that the Goians are very affectionate and easy to connect with,” ventures the taxi driver who was married and raised four children in the state capital.
Aprigio remembers that he was very young when he came to Goiania. He had the opportunity to return to Minas Gerais after the death of his father in 1978. “I am an only child. So my relatives mobilized and pushed very hard for me to go back. My mother went back, but I preferred to stay here with my wife,” he said.
