Huck and the Mayor take a ride through the Marvelous City
RIO DE JANEIRO – With the help of popular TV host Luciano Huck and Mayor Eduardo Paes, the city inaugurated a new bicycle rental program Friday. The system, developed with the utility company Serttel provides for the installation of 60 bike rental stations in 14 districts in the South Zone to be completed by 13 December, reported O Globo online.
According to the Municipality of Rio, the rental stations will be solar powered and will have over 600 bicycles for rent. New locks and pins reinforce the security system to hinder the theft of bikes. Users must register for the service on the internet and get a SambaPass. The fee will be between $3 and $6 U.S. for daily use. Payment can be made by credit or debit card.
On Friday, the mayor and the TV presenter launched the program with a bicycle ride around Copacabana, where 11 stations are already open for business.
