| JOAO PESSOA, Brazil – A woman was stabbed and thrown nude from a moving car early Monday morning in Joao Pessoa, according to the Civil Police (PC). Rescue workers said she was found naked and with various injuries.
The woman told rescuers that her husband was responsible for the attack, which happened on Avenida Rui Cameiro--one of the main roads in the capital. The PC confirmed that the husband is the only suspect in the crime.
According to police, after assaulting his wife and throwing her naked from the car, the suspect fled the scene and eventually crashed on Avenida Nego, in the Tambu neighborhood of the capital, where he continued his getaway on foot.
Also according to police, the victim's mother reported that the couple had split last Friday and she believes that this was the motivation for the crime. According to the mother's report, the suspect did not take the end of the relationship well. The officer added that the suspect is being sought and that the police already have information on locations where he might seek refuge.
Police plan to examine the couple's home and the car from which she was thrown. Emergency workers took the woman, 33, to the Emergency Hospital and Trauma Center of Joao Pessoa. The press office said that as of 11 am (local time) she was in fair condition.
