School Bus Driver Takes Revenge in Bahia

Accused of putting itching powder on school bus seats

SALVADOR, Bahia – A school bus driver in western Bahia, is accused of putting itching powder on the seats of his bus affecting about 50 students on Friday. The driver was reportedly upset with the children over games that they played on the bus and had threatened to harm them if they didn't behave.

According to the public school students, in the city of Barreiras, the driver put 'itching powder' made from plants that irritate the skin. Students said that they were previously threatened by the driver because games they would play during their daily commute.

The principal of the school where the students study said that he was unaware of any estrangement or tension between the driver and the students. Police are taking statements from the victimized children and are searching for the driver, who fled.

According to Wikipedia, Barreiras is an agricultural and livestock area located approximately half way between the state capital, Salvador and the national capital, Brasilia. In recent years it has experienced an economic boom and is one of the fastest growing areas in the state of Bahia, if not Brazil.
