| RIO DE JANEIRO – More than five thousand bikers from various parts of Brazil and the world toured the main points of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning, attracting the attention of many people. The tour is part of the gathering "Rio Harley Days".
The public could see many different models of Harley-Davidson. The legendary brand of American motorcycles was a favorite of the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, among others. The three-day event took place this weekend, beginning on Friday at the Marina da Gloria in Rio's South Zone.

The event that brings together fans of the iconic brand of motorcycle has become a tradition in Europe, especially Spain, Switzerland and Austria and will become a regular part of Rio's calendar of events. It was sponsored by Harley-Davidson Brazil and included a Harley Village where visitors could get up close and personal with demonstration bikes.
In addition to the tour of the city, the event included music, fireworks, a bike show, test rides, a happy hour, entertainment for children and a traditional Saturday Feijoada. Also included was a Village of Vendors where one could buy all kinds of motorcycle-themed merchandise.
Motorcycle riding has become very popular in Brazil in recent years. As the economy has taken off over the last decade, and traffic has become worse as more people can afford automobiles, motorcycle sales have soared. Relative to the cost of automobiles, motorcycles are cost much less to purchase and operate.
Tourists don't need to be left our of the fun, however. You can rent motorcycles in Brazil and there exist companies that provide guided tours of some of the most spectacular areas of the country—motorcycles included.
