| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – The heat wave that hit this South Atlantic capital city last Saturday continues with the beautiful people going to the beach. The mercury topped 37º C (98.6º F) in some cities in the state on Tuesday afternoon.
In Florianopolis, the temperatures were not as bad as in the interior and the crowds not as bad as over the weekend, when highways and beaches were crowded. Temperatures at the beach reached 33.6º C (about 92º F).
Despite the continued high temperatures, most people had to work or shop for Christmas so there was plenty of room on the beach. Tomorrow, the first day of summer, the temperature at the beach is expected to increase by up to two degrees.
