Fraudulent Docs Presented for U.S. Visa

| SAO PAULO – A 36-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday in front of the United States Consulate General in Sao Paulo for offering false documents during her visa interview. The woman was taken to the office of the Specialized Tourist Service Police (DEATUR).

Beer Bribery Case Gets Man Two Years

CURITIBA, Brazil – A judge in southwestern Parana sentenced a man to two years for trying to bribe police with six bottles of beer. Police responded to the man's home when his daughters called to report that he was threatening his wife with violence.

The photograph, which shows the two Military Policemen (PM) with cans of beer in their hands, and one of them with the can raised to his mouth, was posted to social networking sites on the internet.

Little Miss Brazil 2012 Selected

| CAMPO GRANDE, Brazil – Giordana Mazzurana, 8, from the southern Brazilian state of Parana, was elected Miss Brazil Child, in a competition held last weekend in Campo Grande. In an interview with G1 MS, Giordana said she was surprised by the victory. “I had no idea that I would be chosen, but I had hope because I prepared well for the contest. I was thrilled when I saw the result,” she said.

Trafficking Arrests Climb in Iguassu Falls

| CURITIBA, Brazil – This year, the Federal Police (PF) recorded an increase in the number of arrests of drug traffickers at the airport in Iguassu Falls, in the western part of the state. According to the agency, most of those arrested have similar characteristics and most are young, small-time drug dealers from the capital.

Hashish Continues to Flow From Paraguay

| CURITIBA, Brazil – Federal Police (PF) arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday who tried to board a flight in Iguassu Falls with 2.08 kilos of hashish on his person. According to the PF, the drug was divided into packages bound to his legs, hidden under his pants.

CURITIBA, Parana – The city of Paranagua expects to inaugurate the new U.S. $3 million Aquário Marinho de Paranaguá, which is nearing completion, in February of 2012. Originally scheduled for opening in July of this year, delays in construction necessitated pushing back the opening date of the 24,000 square foot facility until February.

Drugs hidden in automobile

CURITIBA, Parana – A couple was arrested transporting 58 kilograms of crack cocaine in the early hours of Tuesday, near the town of Cascavel in western Parana. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the drugs were hidden in the backseat of the car that was traveling towards the capital on highway BR-227.

Public Oral Sex Lands Couple in Jail

CURITIBA, Parana – A couple was detained Tuesday night in the northern part of Paraná state for engaging in oral sex in the middle of Topázio Street at about 10 pm, according to the Military Police. When police arrived on the scene and asked what was going on they were ignored by the couple who continued in the act without stopping, reported terra.com.
