According to police, a small plane was seen at other times flying low over the region. “There was information that the aircraft was flying over the site and some area residents called to tip us off,” police investigator Jorge Daniel told G1.

On rural farmland, officers found three large bundles abandoned in the woods. “Two packages containing 60 bricks of pure cocaine. Another package contained a mattress with two pistols, boxes of ammunition and amateur radios hidden inside,” added Daniel.

Also according to the police, a van was seen by witnesses possibly giving support to the drug gang. “We think that the group is not from Sapezal and that the plane came from Bolivia. But it is also possible that someone here was helping,” added the investigator.

Police have not identified or arrested any suspects. An investigation is under way with the goal of identifying the members of the drug gang.
