Shooting Victim Executed in Hospital

Brazil News

| PORTO ALEGRE, Rio Grande do Sul – A cold-blooded killer entered a hospital in southern Brazil Monday afternoon and—apparently guided by somebody on a cellphone—maneuvered himself to the room where a patient was recovering from a Saturday night shooting and executed the man, reported Diario Gaucho.

CCTV footage from Dom João Becker Hospital's security system showed the killer enter the hospital and casually walk to the room of Diego Telles de Carvalho where he shot him to death. The killer is described by police as a young man, wearing shorts, tee-shirt and a cap.

Two other patients were in the recovery room where the execution took place and say that the killer used a .40 caliber revolver which he muffled with a pillow. He shot the victim at least six times. Doctors say that Diego died instantly.

“We have some names, but considering his past life there are many possibilities,” said the Gravataí police chief, Anderson Spier.

Diego had come to the attention of police before. He has been suspected of murder himself, as well as robbery, conspiracy, receiving stolen goods, forgery and false documentation.

Gravataí is a city of about 250,000 located 15 miles from the Rio Grande do Sul state capital, Porto Alegre.
