Brasilia Goes 100 Days Without Rain

Dry Weather Expected to Continue

BRASILIA – This capital city on Sunday marked 100 days without rain. There is no expectation that Brasilia will see rain this week says The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET). They do expect to see rain by the end of September.

According to the meteorologist at the institute, Ronaldo Coutinho, there is no possibility of rain before Tuesday. “You can only predict short-term rainfall. After Wednesday, there is a possibility of rain, but it is more likely to occur only at the end of September,” he says.

Still the rain, if any, should be isolated to a few points in the city. In 2010, there were 128 days without rain in Brasilia.

Coutinho explains that it is common for the capital to suffer from a dry season this time of year. “During June, July, August and a big part of September every year we have drought,” he says. “The relative humidity will remain below 30% until at least next Tuesday.
