Highway Police Seize 20,000 Ecstasy Tabs

| CURITIBA, Brazil – Federal Highway Police (PRF) in southern Brazil seized 20,000 ecstasy tablets during a routine inspection on Monday morning. Police said that the ecstasy seizure, near the town of Cascavel, Parana, was the largest ever in the state and one of the largest in the country.

In addition to the ecstasy tabs, police found 15 kg of cocaine, 4 kg of crack and about 500 grams of marijuana. The drugs were found in a secret compartment in a Chevrolet Vectra. The driver fled.

A 24-year-old man driving the Vectra, who police were able to identify, managed to escape on foot during the inspection. The PRF is searching the region, with the support of military police and a sniffer dog. The suspect has a police record for kidnapping and inflicting corporal injury.
