| SAO PAULO – A brother and sister team was arrested last Tuesday in the Portal do Morumbi region of Sao Paulo. The man was arrested for possession of cloned bank cards and the woman for trying to bribe police into releasing him.

| SAO PAULO – After stealing a car, getting in an accident and exchanging gunfire with police, two thieves took what some might think unusual action, in Santos, last Saturday. Surrounded, they fled into the bush, but, wounded and lost, they called the fire department and asked for help, reported G1.

GOIANIA, Brazil – Early Friday morning, security cameras recorded three men looting a clothing store in downtown Rio Verde. Scared off by an alarm, they spent only 18 seconds inside the store but still managed to run off with about 40 pair of pants and 50 shirts.

| RECIFE, Brazil – A lone man walked into a bank yesterday morning and walked out a few minutes later with a pouch full of cash. According to police, the robber left the bank with the bag of money after asking to use the restroom. The theft was recorded by the office security cameras and is now being analyzed by investigators.

| SALVADOR, Brazil – Police in Pindobaçu, 400 km (249 miles) from Salvador, are seeking the arrest of those involved in the case of the hitman who faked his target's death. Police finished investigating the case last year but they didn't submit the application for arrest warrants to prosecutors until last Friday.

| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – Police arrested a man Friday morning after he chased a woman into a hotel in the city of Blumenau, 120 km (75 miles) from Florianopolis. The man, who was trying to attack the woman, was arrested a short time later as he was walking down the street naked, reported terra.com.br.

| PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – A young man in southern Brazil probably owes his life to the Shotspotter gunfire detection and location system. At about 7 am, on September 14th this year, Alessandro Nascimento Maia, 25, was shot 12 times and left for dead in the middle of a street in the city of Canoas.

| RIO DE JANEIRO – Police on Monday afternoon seized more than 220 Christmas Gift Baskets that were to be distributed to players and “pointers” in the numbers racket. Authorities were tipped off to the house on Rua Carlos de Oliveira, where the gift baskets were found, in the Rio de Janeiro suburb of Abolition.

| SAO PAULO – Police found the body of a young woman stuffed in a suitcase in a Sao Paulo apartment on Sunday after neighbors called to complain of an overwhelming odor. Police said they were called to the apartment building, in the working-class neighborhood of Bela Vista, in the center of the city, by neighbors who said that the strong smell had been emanating from the apartment for days.

| SAO PAULO – A suspect in the triple-homicide involving victims from Finland, arrested Wednesday in Sao Paulo, will be returned to Paraiba to face justice. The 58-year-old mechanic, who was named as a suspected accomplice in the gruesome crime, will be sent back to Paraiba today and is expected to arrive by Monday.

| FLORIANOPOLIS, Santa Catarina – Before dawn Thursday, Federal Highway Police (PRF) found U.S. $87,000 in cash hidden in a space meant for a car airbag. The cash was seized and the occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

| CAMPO GRANDE, Brazil – A 20-year-old man has appealed a R$127 ($68 USD) citation he received for not wearing a seat belt while riding a motorcycle. The ticket, which was dated 30 November, was issued in the state capital, Campo Grande.

| GOIANIA, Brazil – A 27-year-old woman was arrested in the capital on Saturday, suspected of helping defraud banks of up to R$1 million (about $537,000 USD). According the the Military Police (PM), she is suspected of belonging to a gang that put up “chupa-cabra” devices at bank ATMs.

| JOAO PESSOA, Brazil – Forensic experts and police conducted new search Monday night at the home of the Finns who were killed on the south coast of Paraiba. Six agents of the Civil Police (PC) Special Operations Group (GOE) and the Institute of Forensic Science spent more than three hours trying to find traces of blood inside the residence, located in the small coastal town of Conde.

| BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil – Civil Police (PC) in Iturama this morning are searching for 672 kilograms of marijuana which disappeared from the station house Sunday night. Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, the chief of police said that the marijuana was discovered missing on Monday.

| BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil – Bandits blasted open an ATM early Saturday morning in the town of Conselheiro Lafaiete, destroying the machine but getting no cash. One shop next door was completely destroyed and others in the shopping mall where the machine was located were badly damaged, according to G1 Minas Gerais.

JOAO PESSOA, Paraiba – Civil Police (PC) are struggling to find relatives of three Finns found dead in a sugarcane field in Pitimbu, Paraiba on Friday. According to Globo TV, police in the north-eastern state, believe that the three were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the field.

| RIO DE JANEIRO – Early Saturday morning, Adriana Oliveira, on trial for masterminding the killing of her lottery-winner husband, was found not guilty. The jury's verdict, which stunned those present in the courtroom, clears the way for the young blond widow to inherit half of her late husband's estate—now estimated to be worth over R$100 million reals (about $56 million USD).

| FORTALEZA, Brazil – Businessman Roberto Lima received a traffic ticket in the mail Tuesday citing him for not wearing a helmet while driving a Fiat Uno sedan. The ticket arrived on Tuesday afternoon and the date of the violation is September 22, at 7:45 am, reported G1 Ceara.
