| FORTALEZA, Brazil – The Brazilian production company Arte Produções confirmed on Saturday, that the singer Jennifer Lopez will perform in Fortaleza. According to the producer, the singer will bring her 2012 “LOVE?” world tour to this north-eastern Brazilian state capital on June 30th.

| NATAL, Brazil – Early Friday morning, Federal Police (PF) in north-eastern Brazil arrested a 20-year-old woman for cocaine trafficking. Police say that the woman was carrying 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs) of pure cocaine hidden inside a fake belly, which made her appear to be pregnant.

| RIO DE JANEIRO – A gathering to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the March 31st, 1964 military coup in Brazil ended in pandemonium Thursday afternoon. ‘Revolution 64,’ held at the Military Club in the center of Rio de Janeiro, was besieged by about 200 protesters and ended with a confrontation between protesters and Military Police.

| RECIFE, Brazil – The world’s last remaining Zeppelin mooring tower, located in Recife, Pernambuco state, in north-eastern Brazil will be restored. The mayor of Recife, Joao da Costa, signed a R$5.7 million real ($3 million USD)contract to restore the tower as well as two World War II era bunkers. Completion is scheduled for September.

| SAO PAULO – Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced on Tuesday that it has signed agreements to sell A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to three African nations. The deal is valued at US $180 million dollars.

| MANAUS, Brazil – Prison wardens in the Brazilian Amazon were embarrassed by photos posted to Facebook showing prisoners drinking beer. The inmates of the Puraquequara Prison in the Amazonian capital, Manaus, were shown enjoying several perks, including tobacco, beer and young women, apparently prostitutes.

| RIO DE JANEIRO – Last weekend, the Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron crossed the longest continental mountain range in the world, the Andes. The eight T-27 Tucano aircraft, accompanied by a C-130 Hercules support aircraft, took off from Mendoza, Argentina, flying towards Santiago, Chile, where they will attend the International Space and Air Fair 2012 (FIDAE 2012).
