| RIO DE JANEIRO – Last weekend, the Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron crossed the longest continental mountain range in the world, the Andes. The eight T-27 Tucano aircraft, accompanied by a C-130 Hercules support aircraft, took off from Mendoza, Argentina, flying towards Santiago, Chile, where they will attend the International Space and Air Fair 2012 (FIDAE 2012).

According to Major Airman Alexandre Carvalho Ribeiro, a member of the team that made the trip, crossing the Andes was a moment of great tension. “Being inhospitable and full of obstacles, navigation requires great technique and great insight of our pilots and also the aircraft,” he told terra.com.br.
In all, eight Smoke Squadron Super Tucano aircraft will appear in FIDAE 2012 and will include models, accompanied by data and information sheets at the booth of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion booth (APEX/Brasil).
