| SAO PAULO – President Dilma Rousseff visited former President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva in Sao Paulo today. The meeting took place at the office of the Presidency of the Republic, located on Avenida Paulista, Friday afternoon.

| RECIFE, Brazil – Three murder suspects in north-eastern Brazil confessed on Thursday to using flesh from their victims in meat pies which they sold to the public. In addition to selling the human cuisine, Civil Police (PC) in Pernambuco state say the trio and a five year old child who lived with them ate the pies.

| SAO PAULO – A sixteen year old boy is being held by police for allegedly stabbing his 65-year-old grandmother to death after she forbid him to play video games. The assault took place on Wednesday afternoon, in the Garden City neighborhood of upper middle-class Pirassununga, in the interior of Sao Paulo state.

| SAO PAULO – Actor Thiago Klimeck, 27, who hanged himself accidently during a staging of the Passion of Christ on Good Friday, remains hospitalized. The actor is being cared for by doctors in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Santa Casa de Itapeva Hospital, 290 km (180 mi) from the city of Sao Paulo.

| BRASILIA – A proposal before the Senate committee to reform the Penal Code provides eliminating criminal penalties for owners of brothels. The legal experts who make up the committee want to end what they call the moral “cynicism” of the current legislation. In practice, they say, the ban on brothels only serves to corrupt police who extort money and services from the owners of the establishments.

| MANAUS, Brazil – A 34-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning carrying 45 kilos of cocaine in a suitcase at the airport in Manaus. According to the Federal Police (PF) at the Eduardo Gomes International Airport, the man was trafficking the cocaine from the Amazonas capital to Belem, the capital of Para state.

| HOLLYWOOD – Actor Charlie Sheen sent a video message to fans of metal all over the world: Come to Brazil! The actor will be the emcee at the Rock n Roll All Stars Open Air Metal Festival, which takes place between April 20th and 22nd, in Sao Luis, the capital of Maranhao state on Brazil’s north-east coast.

| RIO DE JANEIRO – The Chilean Navy on Sunday released an image of the Brazilian Yacht ‘Endless Sea’ which sank on Saturday in Antarctica. The photo shows the boat stuck in ice at Maxwell Bay, Ardley Cove, in front of the Chilean Antarctic base Presidente Eduardo Frei, reported Brazilian online media.
