Drink Beer in Blumenau at Sommerfest

| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – To welcome the hottest season of the year, the city of Blumenau on Thursday, kicked off the sort of mini-Oktoberfest party called Sommerfest. Blumenau, in the Valley of Itajai, is most famous for its annual Oktoberfest – the second largest in the world – behind only Munich, Germany.

Second Naked Man Arrested in SC

| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – Police arrested a man Friday morning after he chased a woman into a hotel in the city of Blumenau, 120 km (75 miles) from Florianopolis. The man, who was trying to attack the woman, was arrested a short time later as he was walking down the street naked, reported terra.com.br.

Workers Dangle From 12th Floor

| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – Two laborers working on a residential highrise in Blumenau had to be rescued on Tuesday after their scaffolding collapsed. The laborers were working on the facade of the building at the 12th floor when falling debris disabled the scaffold's control system, dumping them overboard and leaving them hanging from safety cables for over an hour.

28th Oktoberfest in Blumenau Ends

BLUMENAU, Santa Catarina – The organizers of the Oktoberfest in Blumenau announced on Monday that attendance at the 28th edition of the event, which began on October 6th and ended on Sunday, reached 563,925 people. The event, held each year in German Village, attracted more visitors than had been expected by the organizing committee which projected an attendance of 550,000.
