| FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil – Police in southern Brazil are investigating the death of the Honorary Consul of France, who was found dead in Santa Catarina state. Workers at a deluxe hotel in Joinville, 190 km from the state capital, Florianópolis, discovered the body of Francisco Julio Borghoff, 64, in a pool of blood, reported Brazilian online media on Friday.

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil – Two siblings of former Vice President Jose Alencar died on Friday in different states in an interval of two hours. The information was confirmed by another sibling of Alencar, Antonio Gomes da Silva, who lives in Belo Horizonte, according to a report on terra.com.br.

| PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – Police in the city of Canoas are looking for an 18-year-old man who is suspected of robbing a radio station Wednesday night. Announcer Dari Oliveira Filho, 57, was on air when the suspect entered the studio and ended up being assaulted when he tried to intervene. About R$1,000 ($600 USD) in electronic equipment was taken.

| VITORIA, Brazil – A dog named “Princess” followed her owner to the hospital in Vitoria after he was injured and waited for him outside for two weeks. The owner died at Sao Lucas hospital, and still the dog waited near the front door for his return until today when a woman took her to an animal shelter.

| SAO PAULO – Police found the body of a young woman stuffed in a suitcase in a Sao Paulo apartment on Sunday after neighbors called to complain of an overwhelming odor. Police said they were called to the apartment building, in the working-class neighborhood of Bela Vista, in the center of the city, by neighbors who said that the strong smell had been emanating from the apartment for days.

| BRASILIA – A sergeant of the Federal District Military Police (PMDF) was hit by a car and killed this morning in Vicente Pires, 17 km (10 miles) from the capital. Police said the officer, 32, who was traveling in a van with a friend when they stopped the vehicle on the roadside to urinate, was struck by a car and killed.

| SAO PAULO – A suspect in the triple-homicide involving victims from Finland, arrested Wednesday in Sao Paulo, will be returned to Paraiba to face justice. The 58-year-old mechanic, who was named as a suspected accomplice in the gruesome crime, will be sent back to Paraiba today and is expected to arrive by Monday.

FORTALEZA, Brazil – Early Wednesday morning, police arrested a man suspected of raping and killing his sister, aged 9. Francisco Antonio Cosmo de Melo, also known as “Neguinho da Bastiana”, 26, was apprehended in the city of Itati, in the interior of the state of Ceara, 216 km from the capital, Fortaleza.
| SAO PAULO – The story of 93-year-old twins, who died hours apart, has inspired the inhabitants of Sao Jose dos Campos, a small city 97 km from Sao Paulo, according to the site Vnews. Zilda Maria de Jesus dos Santos and Jose Ferreira Neto, 93, were twins. They were born on April 24, 1918 and died on Sunday in a span of just six hours.
