Authorities were already searching for the man since his wife reported him missing earlier this week.

The body of Borghoff da Rocha, a businessman and advertizing executive, was found at around 11 pm Thursday evening in his room at the luxury hotel Mercure Prinz by staff who suspected that the guest had left. He arrived at the property last Tuesday and had not been seen since.

Police are treading the investigation in confidence. A gun was found beside the body and experts were in the room on Friday examining bloodstains and other evidence. No theories have been ruled out, according to the chief investigator.
