| SALVADOR, Brazil – A bank branch office in Baixa Grande, a small town located 252 km (157 miles) from Salvador, was assaulted early Thursday afternoon. According to police, a group of about 10 people arrived at the scene in two cars and overpowered the two security guards.

SALVADOR, Bahia – A group of seven armed men robbed a supermarket in the town of Santo Estevão, 90 miles from the capital, Salvador, in the early evening last Wednesday. According to information from the Civil Police, the suspects took a large sum of money and, to celebrate the success of their crime, five bottles of a famous brand of whiskey.

SALVADOR, Bahia – Followers of the Candomble religion staged a protest on Wednesday, in Salvador, next to the Stone of Shango. They are calling for the preservation of the stone, which is in the neighborhood of Fazenda Grande II, according to a report on the G1 network.

| SALVADOR, Brazil – A man was shot dead inside the car he was driving Saturday morning in the Garden of Allah, on the edge of the capital, Salvador. Civil Police (PC) and Military Police (PM) are on the scene investigating the shooting. They have not released any more information about the crime, according to g1.globo.com.

SALVADOR, Bahia – An action by the Military Police in the city of Camacan, 326 miles from the capital, dismantled a criminal gang, arrested 7, killed one, seized drugs and 150 sticks of dynamite. The gang, with ties to the state of Espirito Santo, was targeted by the 62nd Independent Military Police of Camacan (CIPM) on Tuesday night.
SALVADOR, Brazil – The wife of Gilvan Santos Gonçalves, 34, a day laborer in the small town of Coaraci, Bahia, stabbed her husband to death Tuesday night. Gleide Souza Pereira, 26, attacked her mate with a knife after catching him having sex with his mistress in the couple's bed.
PINDOBACU, Bahia – A woman, and the hitman hired to kill her, may now face larceny charges for conspiring to fake her own death. According to a police investigation, Iranildes Aguilar de Araujo, known as Lupita, received the equivalent of U.S. $127 from the would-be killer for staging photographs depicting her own death.
