Yoani Denied Permission to Visit Brazil

| HAVANA – Yoani Sanchez was denied permission by the Cuban Government to visit Brazil for the premier of a film in which she is featured. At about 1:45 pm EST, she tweeted “It was no surprise. It was the 19th time I have been denied permission to come and go from my own country.”

Cuban Dissident Feels Let Down by Dilma

| HAVANA – Yoani Sanchez, Cuban dissident and blogger, said she was very “disappointed” with the attitude of the Brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff. “It was a shame, a missed opportunity,” Yoani, blogger and editor of Generation Y, told Agencia Estado in a telephone interview from Havana. “It would have been a good time for a diplomatic gesture of solidarity with the citizens, not only with the government,” said the dissident.

Yoani Sanchez Granted Brazilian Visa

| HAVANA, Cuba – Journalist and Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez said on Friday that she has asked Cuban authorities for permission to travel to Brazil. Cuban citizens are required to possess the infamous Permiso de Viaje al Exterior (PVE), or Carta Blanca, in order to leave or enter their own country.

Foreigners Arrested with Fake Passports

Two Italians and two Cubans Arrested in Iguassu Falls

CURITIBA, Parana – The Federal Police (PF) announced today the arrest of four foreigners over the weekend in Iguassu Falls. The travelers were caught in the act of using false passports at the Friendship Bridge international crossing to Paraguay, along Brazil's Southwestern boarder.
