| RIO DE JANEIRO – The so-called 'supermoon' created an amazing photo opportunity in Rio last night as it rose behind the statue of Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado mountain.
The May full moon appeared larger in the sky than any full moon of the year as it passed the Earth at its perigee, the closest point of its orbit.
The moon appeared its largest at 10:34 pm local time appearing in a largely clear sky, making this amazing photo possible.
